Consignment Guide

Experience has taught us what sells and what does not, so please do not be offended if we reject some of your items. Our goal is to sell your quality items quickly and for the best prices. Any rejected items will either be discarded or donated to local charities. Items are not returned, unless otherwise agreed upon, nor will you be notified when they are rejected. However, you will be notified if the items given for consignment do not follow the guidelines below.
Preparing Your Items for Consignment

CHILDREN’S CLOTHING (preemie to size 12)

Items are sold seasonally. (Fall/Winter clothes sold in Fall/Winter)
Sort clothing by size and sex.
All items should be less than 5 years old and not multiple child hand me downs.
No stains, missing buttons, tears or holes
No signs of excessive wear/ washing (no pilling, fraying or pulls)
All items must be freshly washed before brought into the store not before you stored it away. (Basements and attics have a tendency to have an odor no matter how old or young your home is.)
Sets sell better than separates. Keep pieces/sets together. Do not send incomplete sets, if top/bottom is missing or stained please don’t send odd piece.
Shoes in excellent condition are accepted with laces tied

Buttons, snaps and zippers must be buttoned snapped and zipped and outfits put together.
LABEL YOUR BINS AND LIDS

TOYS AND OTHER INFANT/BABY/TODDLER ITEMS Items must meet all governmental safety regulations and should not be on a recall list.
Items must be clean; not missing any parts and have working batteries (use dollar store batteries if needed)
Toys with pieces/parts should be put in a baggy and attached to item.
No stuffed animals are accepted unless they are a “character” or are battery operated.
Children’s books in great condition are accepted but must be free of markings and torn pages.

Receive cash — on the spot — for your baby gear without

waiting for it to sell.

You will receive the most money by consigning, but immediate cash on the spot is the next best thing. You could receive 20-25% of our store’s selling price for your item. Brand new in the box items could potentially earn up to 30% of our store’s selling price. Items must meet the standards of the consignment guide to qualify.

Immediate appointments will be made for an outright purchase.

Please allow a bit of time during the drop off for the items to be thoroughly checked and verified that they are not on the recall list.

Pricing & Payment

We set prices based upon the brand, quality, condition and a general 1/3 retail price rule. New items are priced at a higher percentage. The consignor is assigned a number that is used to identify each item given to sell. The consignor will receive 40% of the selling price (and receive a check if qualifies) on clothing/shoes or 50% clohing/shoes and receive store credit. The consignor will receive 50% of the selling price of baby gear and clean toys. A check can be picked up at the store by the consignor after an assigned date (the beginning of February, April, June, August, October and December around the 5th). If the total for the month is less than 50.00, the amount will be added to the next month’s sales. An email is sent to those that have a check. Money remaining in an account is available to be used toward a purchase only. Checks are NOT written for amounts under $50.00. We are not able to provide an itemization of items sold. Store credit remains in account up to 1 year from consignment drop off date.

At the end of a season unsold items will be donated to local charities, sold at a discounted rate and/or become the property of Sweetpea's Children's Shoppe. Consignors are given the opportunity to retrieve the unsold items on 3 pre-scheduled days and given notice of this via email a few weeks in advance. Items that remain become the property of Sweetpea's Children's Shoppe. (1/12)
